This is a hardwood bench I designed and built in April 2025.
The bench was built as a commission for two family members, complete with custom engraving in the back seat.
The bench is made out of Jatoba hardwood, and is a variation on the crate chair designed by Gerrit Rietveld. It seats 3 persons, and is treated to resist outdoor conditions.
The planks are sawed, engraved, and screwed together. Then, the legs are treated with epoxy for a waterproof finish. Finally, the full bench is coated in 3 layers of teak oil.
