During a 6 week internship in Kumasi, Ghana, for ACHI, I worked together with Ghanaian carpenter Daniel to build a solar dryer for Kwadaso Agricultural College.
A passive solar dryer works by heating air using sunlight, and feeding this air into a greenhouse-like box, where vegetables and fruits can then dry at 50 degrees celsius.
We spent a few weeks in the workshop, carefully shaping wood, aluminum composite, and glass to create this machine.
The machine is now in use by students at the college, in lessons and for personal projects.
